SureStay Studio by Best Western Charlotte Executive Park

The front desk employee was courteous and smiled at check-in, which was the one positive part of my stay. The rooms are old and dirty, and the online hotel photo doesn't show the property at this location. Things in the room weren't all working: the thermostat was broken and couldn't be adjusted. The so-called fitness center barely fits its one treadmill and one elliptical, has no adjustable air conditioning, and stays very warm. The bathrooms are filthy, and the spacious kitchen is gross. During the day, the grounds crew runs equipment right by your door, loud enough to sound like they're inside your room, so don't expect quiet.

The room had nice toiletries and free coffee, and the kitchenware was provided. The appliances all worked well, and the air conditioning was nice. Check-in was quick and easy, and the customer service was good. Still, I was scared to open the door because bumblebee hives were everywhere and there was an infestation right next to my room. The door catches on the floor and won't open all the way. The room smelled like cigarettes, and people living in the hotel smoked Marijuana all around, so you could smell it. In the morning, someone in another room cooked breakfast and the smell filled my room so badly I wanted to leave right away. They should put the rental areas far away from the “extended stay people” and renovate the rental rooms as soon as possible.

It felt more like a small apartment complex than a hotel, and we didn't hear any noise from outside or the neighboring rooms once inside. We stayed in a one-bedroom loft and got much more space than expected. Upstairs there was an oversized king bed and a full bathroom. Downstairs, another full bathroom, a bedroom that closes off from the living room, a computer desk, and a queen bed that folds down from the wall. There was also a living room with a sofa bed and a decent-sized kitchen with a table for four. The property is nice, in a great location, and the neighborhood seemed safe. There are a pool, a small spa jacuzzi, a basketball court, and a cookout area with a grill and a big round table ready to use. While waiting outside for the pizza man after midnight, we noticed a security officer walking the property at night. We met some people who stay there eight months a year and have a setup at the back of the parking lot for hanging out and grilling. They were really nice. Breakfast was hot and fresh, with plenty of options. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay here whenever I visit Charlotte!

The room and staff were just what we wanted. They were so nice on the phone and even let us check in early. But while we were there, the pizza delivery guy was mugged, and groups of kids roamed the property late into the night. My family was definitely concerned about safety, so I'd hesitate to come back.
