The Mecklen Hotel, Charlotte, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The room was so cute and beautifully decorated, with fresh carpet, new furniture, comfortable beds, plenty of lighting choices, and a fridge cleverly tucked into the furniture. A little bee sculpture is on each door, and the bee theme carries gently into the room. I later learned it's actually a hornet, a nod to Charlotte's Revolutionary War history. The lobby was beautiful, Holden greeted us at check-in, and getting our keys was easy. Though we were on a busy street, the room stayed quiet all night. The security car at the entrance, the guard inside, and key card access for the entrance and elevator helped me feel safe, even when I had to run to my car at 1 am for something I'd forgotten. We only booked one night, which was disappointing, but I’m in the area so often that The Mecklen hotel is now my home away from home. With so many University area choices from Hilton to the Sleep Inn, I was glad we found it at an affordable price.

The hydration station was a nice feature, though I wish my water bottle fit under its spout. I loved the room and the lush shower, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and the hotel’s motifs and vibe were great. A wonderful stay.

The elite breakfast menu was a real pleasure, and although I was only there for one night, I could have stayed for days. This is one of the nicest Marriott properties I’ve visited. It’s brand new, the decor is amazing, and the renovations were done really well. Every staff member I met was fabulous, and management deserves credit for creating such a warm, welcoming place. I’m looking forward to another stay at The Mecklen.

The people were so friendly and worked hard to meet guests’ requests. Communication was great, and they responded promptly. The amenities were good enough, and the housekeepers cleaned my room every day.
