The room was clean, the hotel itself was nice, and I liked the spacious layout and kitchen. The location was quiet and clean, and the employees were pleasant. I would have stayed again if our room hadn't smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke. The smell followed us home after our six-hour drive. I showered and washed everything I could, including clothes, coats, and my hair, but later my car still smelled like smoke too. The room was advertised as non-smoking, but that wasn't our experience. It felt as if people live there and smoke inside. I wouldn't stay again unless you're a smoker. Horrible.

Deidra, the manager, and Justin at the front desk made a huge difference when my Expedia booking went wrong. I had traveled to Charlotte for a professional licensing board exam, one of the most important events of my career, and finding out there was a room problem after all that preparation left me overwhelmed and anxious. The booking issue was outside the hotel's control, but they still took responsibility for helping me find a solution instead of blaming someone else or brushing me off. They patiently and reassuringly secured me a room despite the complication. Deidra showed calm, caring leadership and focused on solving the problem. Justin was welcoming, attentive, and supportive throughout. Together they turned what could have been a disastrous situation before a major career milestone around, and I could focus on my exam instead of worrying about where I'd sleep. Their empathy really mattered in that moment. I'm deeply grateful to them both. If you're in the Charlotte area, book here for the people as well as the accommodations. Deidra and Justin represent the best of customer service and human kindness. Thank you for going above and beyond.

The rooms were spacious and clean over the Thanksgiving holiday, and the full-size fridge and two-burner stove were handy for keeping snacks and leftovers. The staff took good care of the hotel, and everyone was nice. J. Holmes checked us in with an upbeat, professional manner. He was mopping the floor at the time, and the fresh smell reminded me of home. He's the kind of employee I'd love to have working for me. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Charlotte. 10 out of 10!

After nearly two months here, I was put out late at night with my family and all our belongings, then had to pay for another hotel. No one asked whether I was okay or what had happened. The incident took place in common areas with security cameras, and police reports were filed. I’m safe now, but guests should know how serious safety problems may be handled here. A male guest threatened to physically assault me, and another verbally attacked me. I wasn’t the aggressor, but Eddie at the front desk decided I should be removed instead of the men. I kept to myself and wasn’t disrespectful or confrontational. I also felt there was a clear difference in how the staff treated men compared with me as a woman. Male guests got warmth, patience, and familiarity, while I was met with irritation and hostility. I didn’t make a point of ingratiating myself with the staff or making excessive conversation. Before the incident, Eddie had given me linens that were plainly wet to the touch, which felt unprofessional and made me question his intent. There are three Black male front desk attendants, and they’re all flamboyant. I mentioned that because it seemed relevant to the bias in how I was treated. Eddie in particular has a nasty attitude and gives special attention to the male guests he deals with on the property.

For the price, and since it was new during my stay, I gave it three stars. Otherwise, I would have rated it lower. It’s very much a budget hotel, with no frills or room service, and the furnishings and finishes feel cheap. The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, burner, and sink, but no cookware or silverware. I picked some up at the nearby Publix. The rooms are noisy. I could hear people walking above and doors slamming, especially the stairwell door at the end of the hall, so avoid a room near it if you can. There are long-term guests and dogs are allowed, so expect to see and hear them. One night the hall smelled strongly of weed, and I could smell it inside my room near the entrance and in the bathroom. I expected the area to be better because it’s near Microsoft corporate offices and an FBI building, but there were some sketchy people hanging around outside and nearby. If you’re a light sleeper or get spooked easily, this might not suit you. I went alone and was willing to take a few chances to save money, maybe foolishly. I’d only suggest it for a man traveling alone or a young couple looking for a budget stay. I wouldn’t bring kids unless I couldn’t afford something better. Also, check the total at check-in. They added an “extra linen” charge without telling me. When I asked why it was above the booking price, they blamed taxes, even though taxes were already included in the booking price. I let the extra $12 go because I wanted to get to my room, and only spotted the linen charge on the emailed receipt after checkout.
