I was surprised by how amazing the room was. I stayed in a smoking room, but it smelled clean, like bleach, when I walked in. If I hadn’t been told it was a smoking room, I wouldn’t have known. I expected it to be mediocre and was completely wrong. I’ll definitely book here again.

For $90, I got a one-night stay in a non-smoking room with a king bed. The rooms are cozy, though the bathrooms are small and might feel cramped if you're bigger. It’s more of a budget hotel. Breakfast was included, with bagels, bread, waffles, juice, and coffee, but nothing with protein like eggs or sausages.

After roughly three hours of dealing with bugs and going back and forth with the general manager, I finally got a refund. I had already told them that if they couldn’t offer a clean room, I wanted my money back so I could sleep somewhere else. I even showed the manager photos of bugs I’d killed before calling, but he just shrugged it off. The staff had killed some of the bugs themselves, yet the manager argued with me about whether they were there. Staff kept calling the front desk to translate because, in my opinion, they didn’t understand enough English to work with guests properly. The young man who checked me in early was kind and professional. The TVs weren’t working, and he tried to fix them, but couldn’t. That was the only good part of the stay. Bugs were coming from behind wall fixtures and decorations, and the gaps around the doors were big enough for more to crawl in. I reported the first few and asked the front desk to remove them. The general manager was there by then. Less than half an hour later, more showed up, and when I reported them again, I was treated with hostility and disrespect. The manager said they’d never had a pest complaint and that I must have brought them, which was rude and made no sense to me. I’d paid $300 for the room, and plenty of other reviews mention bugs, bedbugs, cleanliness, and staff attitude, especially over the past six to eight months. I asked whether they could guarantee a replacement room wouldn’t have pests coming from behind the fixtures, since I didn’t want to move all my things only to call again. The manager said he couldn’t guarantee anything, then asked if I wanted the room or a refund. I’d already asked for a refund if they couldn’t provide clean accommodation. Don’t stay here if you don’t want to risk paying $200-$300 for a room with bugs, a TV that doesn’t work, and management that won’t acknowledge the problem. I’ll be filing reports with the BBB about what happened yesterday. This ruined my weekend in Charlottesville. The facilities and customer service were both very poor.

The desk staff were pleasant, and I felt safe. The place is close to a lot of things, and although it’s dated, it looked clean and seemed to be getting updates. It did the job, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it for families. We could hear the TV from the next room late at night through the thin walls, along with some very loud, unclear noises. Around 2 a.m. a group was making noise and blasting music from a car; at about 5 a.m., people we didn’t know were knocking on doors. The room smelled like stale smoke, though I didn’t check whether it was meant to be smoking or non-smoking, if that’s still a thing. I’m hesitant to rule the place out completely, since it’s hard to control everyone and there’s another hotel across the parking lot. The people were lovely, and they do seem to be working on the property. Still, it’s worth knowing about the noise. If that doesn’t bother you and you don’t need extra amenities, it’s a reasonable place to stay.

I slept well, and breakfast was okay. It’s an older motel with some renovations, though the shower curtain was too long and not wide enough to keep water off the floor. We also had to drive around for about five minutes before figuring out how to park closer to our room. The desk clerk could have explained that better.
