By the next morning I just wanted to get out. The cleaning staff were making a lot of noise down the hall, someone who might have been a neighbor or cleaning staff was pounding on a wall, and I saw another five or six bugs. The second room looked all right at first, and I was exhausted, so I moved my things from the car in two trips and returned the first key to the desk. There were signs in the parking lot saying the hotel wasn’t responsible for items stolen from vehicles. The desk clerk asked if everything was fine. I said it seemed so. I was wrong. Two more lady beetles were on the walls, and my search turned up lots more bugs, a rat dropping, something like a booger on the wall, and stained sheets around the spot where someone’s butt would be. I was too tired to move again. I put my travel towels over the cleaner bed, used my own pillow and blanket, and went to sleep. I checked in on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, after a ten-hour drive. The place initially looked appealing, but I soon changed my mind. In the first room, I spotted four or five Asian lady beetles, the kind that bite, and picked them up with a napkin. I went downstairs for food at the bar. My cheese and bacon fries were supposed to have green onions, which I can handle with acid reflux, but came topped with half a raw white onion chopped into bits. I was picking it off when the very nice bartender offered to replace them. I said it was fine, but she insisted. That was the best service I got. Back in the room, there were six to ten more beetles on the walls. I hunted them and probably killed another 15 to 20. The sink wouldn’t drain, and there was hair in the shower before I used it. After I showered, three more beetles were on the ceiling. I killed them and, exhausted from the day’s travel, tried to sleep. Just as I was nearly asleep, one fell from the ceiling onto my face. It was after midnight, so I went to the desk and asked to change rooms. Before I explained, the woman asked if it was because of the ladybugs. I said yes, and she replied, “we have a problem with them.” She found me a room on an upper floor, saying those rooms were less affected.

The room was too hot and uncomfortable, and its TV didn’t work. We had to switch rooms, which took time and threw off our plans. We nearly arrived late for our Ruby Falls hike, one of the main things we’d driven more than two hours for on our family vacation. Neighborhood cats were getting into the hotel lobby. I told the front desk, specifically the night shift employee who came in around 11 PM on Friday, February 21, 2026, but nothing was done. I have allergies, and being around the cats made me break out and itch badly. When I asked for help, no one seemed concerned or in a hurry. They had no Benadryl or basic allergy medicine, so since I wasn’t from the area, I had to find a store late at night. The stay was frustrating and far from relaxing. Between the room issues, the service, and the lack of help with my allergies, we won’t be back.

My wife and I had a good stay, and the hotel was well maintained for the price. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. A couple of noises kept it from being great: the beds were comfortable enough, but something in the frame made a loud metal clank when I got in or out, loud enough to wake me once. The toilet was noisy too. Still, it’s a perfectly fine place I’d recommend.

The front desk staff deserve credit for being professional and helpful. The lobby and rooms could use updating, though. Our toilet ran the whole time. I reported it to maintenance three times, but it started running again after they left. We could also hear other people’s toilets, especially at night. I’m not sure why.

The location is perfect, and the day shift staff were very friendly. My stay was December 3 to December 4, 2025. I checked in late, and the staff then weren’t very friendly. The room was clean, but there was no hot water. I didn’t get an explanation until checkout. At the bar, I saw cats wandering around the hotel. I’m fine with animals, but the bartender picked one up, rubbed and kissed it, then went straight back to making drinks and preparing food orders without washing his hands. The cat also jumped onto the counter while we were sitting there. I was told the hotel houses stray cats. That’s fine, but guests should be told in advance. One of my colleagues is allergic and chose another hotel.
