Holiday Inn Express Chesapeake - Norfolk by IHG

We left and went to the Fairfield Marriott down the road, where the staff were friendly and responsive, the rooms spotless, and the hospitality genuine. Holiday Inn still hasn't refunded us, and the lack of care reflects badly on management and its training. I've stayed in hotels around the world and never had such a disappointing experience. My wife and I arrived exhausted after a 12-hour drive. The man at the front desk spoke so quietly we could barely hear him and had no warmth, but we let that go until we found a huge cockroach crawling on the wall and ceiling. We took photos to the desk. The employee showed no concern, offered no apology, and only said he'd move us to another room. When we asked for a manager, he said we couldn't speak with one until Monday. Bugs can happen in any hotel. What upset me was the lack of response, action, or reassurance. I wanted someone to take it seriously and make us feel the issue was being handled. Travelers who've been on the road all day need to feel relaxed and welcome. Staff should be friendly, speak clearly, and be able to take initiative instead of passing everything to management days later.

We had a great stay in the king suite. It was roomy, and the bed was comfortable. The shower felt great and had body wash and other things. Breakfast offered plenty of choices, and the man at the front desk was friendly. We'll stick with IHG and choose this hotel again when we're in the area.

The rooms were clean, with really comfortable bedding, and the staff were very accommodating. The general areas, dining space, laundry, and gym were all updated and clean. The rooms were typical Holiday Inn Express style, and I'd definitely stay here again.

For a quick weekend in town, this turned out to be a really good choice. Check-in service was great, our room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, so we had what we needed and slept well. We also used the Kureg for coffee in the morning. I'd definitely stay here again.
