Best Western Indian Oak

The breakfast room and lobby have a lovely view of Chubb Lake, and there’s even a piano in the lobby, which was a fun surprise. We stayed in November 2025 while visiting Indiana Dunes National Park and had a good time. It’s a fairly short drive to the park, depending on which area you’re headed to. Our room was clean and pleasant, with comfortable beds, and parking was easy to find. Check-in and check-out were both quick. The included breakfast was good, though it’s better to go early before the choices get picked over. Great value for the stay.

The room had a slight musty smell at first, but running the furnace fan cleared it up. Breakfast is pretty basic and the coffee could be better, though it was fine. The staff were accommodating, the room was nice, and the shower was great. For the price, it was a pleasant place to stay. We’d come back when we’re in the area.

The lake is peaceful, and the view is lovely, though there was quite a bit of trash beyond the fence that needs picking up. We came for our anniversary. The bed was comfortable and the room was okay, but the bathroom could’ve been cleaner. The shower itself was nice, though its door doesn’t close all the way and water gets onto the floor. I really liked the full-size bottles of toiletries. The staff were friendly, breakfast had a nice selection, and the price was good. The beach is close, too. The hotel felt cold, so bring a sweater. I was disappointed to find there’s no longer a hot tub, even though the website listed one. The pool was okay, but the water felt hot and cold, and nobody else was using it. The sauna is tiny, with two benches that aren’t really usable for sitting or lying down, and the pool area could use some care. The photos gave me the wrong impression, and I wish we’d chosen somewhere else for our special day. It’s fine for a quick trip, and I’d return, but anyone looking for a good pool and hot tub area should look elsewhere.

We come back often, sometimes with the kids and sometimes without. Inside, the hotel has a comfortable setup, and even though restaurants and shops are close by, it feels like we’ve gotten away from the city once we’re in. The lake view is stunning, the pool is clean and well cared for, and the staff are helpful and friendly. We also always enjoy the breakfast.
