Tru by Hilton Cheyenne WY

The breakfast I had on my last day was basic, convenient, and enough to get going, pretty much what you’d expect from a Tru by Hilton. This was my second stay here, and despite a few small issues, it remains a solid Cheyenne option. I’d stay again if I wanted a newer, no-frills place with a quiet atmosphere. I stayed two nights, January 23-24, at the Tru by Hilton Cheyenne. I’d checked in electronically before arriving late Friday night, but stopped at the desk for a key card and my complimentary bottles of water as a Hilton member. That was quick and easy. The hotel was fairly quiet that weekend, and my fourth-floor room at the back was calm. It was about 2 degrees outside, so walking into a warm room was especially welcome. The room felt clean and fairly new, with a practical layout. The bathroom and shower were modern and well maintained. The bedspread had visible stains, though, and the sheets looked a little worn, which stood out against the newer feel. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and I slept well both nights. The TV glitched a little now and then, but it wasn’t a major problem.

The room design was great, and there’s no space under the bed for a pet to hide when it’s time to go. Do check under the bathroom sink, though! My digital key didn’t work, which has never happened to me at another Hilton, and staff didn’t give me a satisfactory response.

Breakfast here is great, with lots of hot and cold choices. I’ve stayed a few times and will definitely come back when I’m in town. The rooms are super clean and modern, with hip colors and designs, and they make smart use of space. There’s a pool and a decent-sized fitness center too, though I didn’t use either.

The front desk clerk at checkout was great, though some of the others could use more training. This was our first bad experience with Tru. We usually find these hotels fresh, clean, and fun, but this one missed the mark: our room hadn’t been cleaned well, and the linens weren’t refreshed by the end of our three-night stay.
