IHSP Chicago Hostel

The location made it easy to walk to restaurants and bars, and the Blue Line was close for getting around town. I enjoyed hanging out in the common area and chatting with other guests. Meg welcomed me at check-in, showed me around, and made sure she answered my questions. The room was clean and a good size for me and my brother. Bathrooms and showers were clean, with plenty of towels. There were free pancakes in the morning and coffee all day.

The breakfast is just pancakes, so you may want to pick up something else too. Still, the kitchen is great, the living room is comfortable, and there are enough computers that you don’t have to wait for ages. The rooms are clean, the showers work, and coffee is free all day. People are friendly and helpful, and there’s a nice social feel if you want to meet others or have a beer on the rooftop. It’s close to the metro, and I’d definitely recommend it to friends.

Meg made sure we had a great stay from start to finish, so a big thanks to her. The rooms are really nice, though a couple of appliances had issues. That didn’t matter much since there’s a shared area with cooking space, and the roof deck was really cool too.

The rooftop is great, and the common room is open and spacious. Sights and shopping are within walking distance, and parking was okay, with spots available in the neighborhood. The creaky floors and poor sound insulation were drawbacks, and the main bathroom lights had been out for three days. Otherwise it was standard hostel living. I’d stay again if I’m in Chicago.
