SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chicago Chinatown

The front desk team made this stay for me. They were warm and helpful, and when I locked my keys in the trunk, the manager let me wait inside for the locksmith. It was cold out, so I really appreciated that. My room was comfortable, and I was glad to find my favorite drinks in the lobby cooler when I checked in. Parking took a little figuring out once the garage filled up, but I found a street spot a block away. I had a great weekend here and would come back.

The hotel is clean and well kept, though nothing fancy. It’s a newer place in Chinatown, with a busy but safe-feeling neighborhood. You can park free on nearby residential streets or pay to use the hotel garage. There’s an L station about a five-minute walk away, and Downtown is roughly a ten-minute ride. Breakfast is the usual Springhill spread, with some good biscuit sandwiches and little egg frittatas. The water pressure was good, and it got very hot.

I’ve stayed at this Springhill Suites twice in four years, and it’s been great both times. The hotel was quiet, my room was spotless, and the front desk staff were especially helpful. Service all around was impeccable. There was plenty of breakfast, and the options were fine. This may have been the best Marriott stay I’ve had anywhere. It’s top notch and doesn’t get enough credit.

The location is a real plus, with great food nearby and a walk to the convention center that isn’t too difficult. The front desk was hit or miss, though. Some agents were very nice and others weren’t. I didn’t sleep either of my two nights. The walls are paper thin, and I could hear noise from outside. There was no view, either.
