The check-in process was confusing, and picking up the key was ridiculous. When I called with a question, the phone greeting said to use online chat unless it was an emergency. I didn't want to stand in a corridor waiting for someone to answer, and it was inconvenient not being able to speak to someone in person. I was told the front desk staff didn't work for Stay Alfred. The booking process also felt wrong and scammy: I had to verify my identity three times, including sending pictures of my driver's license on two different websites and a video of my face making two circles with my nose. The apartment wasn't close to the luxury rental it was described as. It was nearly 80 degrees when we arrived, and we couldn't cool it down quickly. There weren't any fans apart from the ones on the air conditioners. The living room unit worked well, but the one in the master bedroom was terrible and kept shutting off. The living room was cooler, but the old, worn pull-out bed was actually painful to sleep on. The room had a lot of other problems, too. The bathtub in the master bathroom was half full when we got there. I couldn't tell whether it was water or cleaner, and I wasn't willing to put my hand in to open the drain, so we couldn't use that shower. I couldn't tell if the drain was plugged. The tub faucet dripped all night. Both bathroom showers were full of mildew and gross, and the other bathroom's dirty shower curtain should be replaced. There was no shampoo, only conditioner and lotion. The bed had lots of stains. A large crack ran through the living room wall, and an outlet was coming out of the wall.
