Evening Shade River Lodge and Cabins

We’ve been visiting chimney rock for four years and always choose Evening shades. The rooms are cozy and very clean, and the river view is the icing on the cake. Yvonne and her husband Tim are wonderful, always welcoming us and checking that everything is going well. I’ve never been disappointed, and I recommend staying at Evening Shades when visiting Chimney Rock.

The views of chimney rock from the rooms are incredible, and it’s easy to get to the Broad River, town center, and parks. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. I did spot mold in nearly every corner of the room, though, and humidity and moisture were warping many of the walls and ceiling tiles. The building could be a hazard for people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. I might return, but I’m not sure I could recommend it to others.

I was sorry to head home today. From our private balcony, the waterfall and mountains looked gorgeous, and I loved leaving the screen door open so we could hear the river. There’s lovely seating by the water and a cute swing for two. The room had what we needed for a Chimney Rock stay, and I liked its simple, rustic feel. The location is perfect. I’d absolutely come back.

Yvonne and her husband are wonderful and always so helpful. My husband and I have been coming here many times a year for years, staying in the same room, and it’s such a clean, cozy place to unwind. The back porch outside our room has great views of the river, Chimney Rock, and the waterfall. Thank you for giving us such an awesome place to come to.
