Best Western Plus Clarks Summit Scranton

The first time I stayed here for work, everything went well. The rooms were clean and organized, housekeeping did a great job, and the staff were welcoming. The food was decent for the price, though nothing special. My second stay was a very different experience. I booked through a third-party app intending to pay at the counter, but was charged upfront for two nights. Since I wasn’t sure I’d need the second night, I called right after booking to cancel it. They told me to talk to the manager the next day, so I did, before the 24-hour cancellation period was up. The manager said it was up to the app. I contacted the app, then tried to sort it out with the hotel directly, including another conversation with the manager weeks later. They still wouldn’t refund the unused second night, even though I’d contacted them promptly and followed the instructions I was given. It was really frustrating and felt like poor customer service. I expected a reasonable solution after explaining things clearly and on time, but didn’t get one.

A heated pool and restaurant are on-site, and there are slot machines in the lobby. The rooms are spacious, with complimentary breakfast each morning. There’s also an upper parking lot with a walkway entrance on the second floor. Fast-food places and other restaurants are nearby.

We were tired from driving up from NC toward the Adirondacks and home, and our GPS sent us on a wild goose chase before we finally found the place. The night clerk was exceptional and deserves a raise. Our room was great, and the takeout from the Pub was a nice welcome. Madison, our Golden, liked the accommodations too. We’ll be back. ☘️☘️☘️

There was dirty underwear left in the bathroom. I reported it, but housekeeping missed it even after cleaning the next morning. After a second cleaning, I got stained sheets. My brother had plumbing trouble in his room and fixed it himself. Breakfast was mediocre, with no apple juice, and the pool wasn’t heated, though the room was. Parking was awful. I probably won’t stay again, though it might do if you urgently need a place.
