Super 8 by Wyndham Claremore OK

This time was a real letdown after my first stay here just two weeks earlier, which had gone well enough that I had no hesitation booking again. I’m not sure where I’ll stay next, since most of the main hotels are by the railroad tracks and the noise would keep me awake. It seems hit or miss whether you’ll get a clean room here. The room wasn’t serviced once during my stay. Trash stayed in the room the whole time, and no fresh towels came either. I’m less bothered about the towels than the trash. I didn’t mention it Friday morning because surely they’d clean on day three, but they didn’t. When I checked out, the young man didn’t seem to care and said they were short staffed, as if that made it all okay. There were no full-size towels when I arrived, only face towels and washcloths by the sink. The shower curtain had dark spots that made me think it hadn’t been washed between guests, and there was gravel and construction dirt behind the door, maybe from someone’s work boots. The mini-fridge still had food from the previous guest. I threw it out, expecting it to be taken with the trash the next day, but that never happened. My second evening, I came back from an event with a pizza box and the woman at the desk rudely asked if I was DoorDash. I had my purse and other things with me and was clearly walking toward the elevator, but she asked in a rude tone whether I already had a room. That was a new one for me. I was in a room facing the road and didn’t sleep well because of the noise. I live somewhere very rural and am used to things being super quiet, so this may not bother most people. One more thing for anyone sensitive to chemical smells: the detergent or softener smell here is very strong. Most hotels’ sheets and towels have a slight bleach smell, but everything in my room picked up this smell, even things left in my suitcase.
