The room itself was dirty and seemed neglected, and we were given two double beds even though I’d booked one king. The hot tub was disgusting; we also saw teenage girls come in from the beach and rinse their feet in it. The pool was usable, but needed repairs and a paint job. At check-in, a drunk homeless man was ranting about being locked out of his room. I had to ask him to quiet down so the very nice night clerk could help me. That was the exception to the generally rude staff. The place smelled strongly of pot, and there were lots of homeless people around. Breakfast was gross and barely worth calling free. Rugs removed from the office were left sitting there the whole three days. The head cleaner came and yelled that I had to check out. When I said I was booked for another night, she told me to talk to the woman in the office. They said ten rooms had been updated, but our stay was dirty and unpleasant.
After an almost eight-hour drive with my mother, we got there at 9 PM for the Saturday night I’d booked through Expedia during our road trip. No one was at the front desk. We rang the bell and called the listed number, then waited a long time before a staff member appeared and told us there were no rooms. He said there had been an “issue” with ours and the booking was cancelled. Expedia had sent a message at 6 PM, just three hours before we arrived, with no explanation. The app still showed the reservation as booked, and nobody had called or emailed. Check-in officially began at 3 PM. I asked whether we would have gotten the room if we’d arrived earlier; he said no, the issue had already happened. So why wait until 6 to message us? I suspect they overbooked and bumped us because we were late. They offered no help finding somewhere else. Nearby hotels were booked online, and when I asked for help, they said they didn't know of vacancies and local hotels don't share that information. We were stranded late at night. This was an awful, unreliable experience, and I wouldn't book here if you want your trip to go smoothly.
The pool had green stuff on the bottom and the heater was broken. The hot tub smelled like pee. Our room towels included one stuffed behind the trash can with brown stuff on it, and the air from the AC and heat was dusty. The Wi-Fi was down. Breakfast was described as available, but all they had was coffee, cereal, milk, and waffles. Four days later, as we tried to leave after our stay, they wouldn't give us what we believe was a legally required refund because the pool wasn't heated. Instead, they tried to charge us more for saying we were entitled to a refund. We called the police, the non-emergency number, and Wyndham, which owns the hotel, but nothing happened. A woman said she was the owner, then ignored us and walked away when we raised the complaint. Her dog, living in 101, tried to go after our dog, who doesn't bark and wouldn't hurt a fly. The whole situation ruined our family's fun and left us dealing with this mess. Someone needs to get a new owner for this building and location. Also, Jacob, who is related to the owners, was shooting up in his car and rocking back and forth in front of my 13-year-old cousin, me at 16, and my 18- and 22-year-old cousins. Even though some of us are adults, that was traumatizing and inappropriate, especially for the minors.
The location was the only good part. The beds were so hard they left my dog walking funny the next day, and they hurt my back badly enough that by day two I could barely walk. We left early after booking three nights and four days. The beds weren't full or queen size, seemed oddly shaped, and didn't fit two people unless they were children. We spent much of the time in our SUV just to be comfortable. The room was nasty, and even the pool was so dirty I felt you could catch Covid or another virus there. Staff were rarely available when we needed help. On the second day, I waited eight hours for them to change our room because they said the maid had to clean the new one. I spent the day at the beach, but couldn't use the facility. Nobody answered the desk phone. I'm not picky and don't usually complain, but don't ruin your vacation like we did.
After our house burned down with everything in it, they told us we could have a couple of free nights if we came back after last weekend. Instead, they charged me for the previous night, and when we asked about adding another night, they were extremely rude. The room wasn't very clean, and the man at the desk was rude and lied. I wouldn't suggest staying there.
