Getting to I24 was easy, and El Rancho Grande across the street was handy for dinner. If you're bringing a trailer or a large vehicle, there is dedicated parking. The faux wood and tile floors seemed like a nice change from carpet, but underneath was a lot of dirt. I walked barefoot once and my feet turned black. There was also a clump of leftover hair by the bathtub drain. The room door opens straight to the parking lot, since this is a motel. Cleanliness should be a priority, and the front desk could use better customer service. Three stars is probably generous.

After driving for 15 hours, we needed a last-minute stop and booked a non-smoking room. The bed was comfortable, which helped us get some rest, but the room wasn't clean enough for what we paid. The blanket had cigarette burn holes, and stale smoke hung in the room. When we turned on the bathroom light and exhaust fan, a noticeable smell of fresh cigarette smoke seemed to come in too.

We only ended up here because the other hotels we'd called were full during our late-night drive. Manager Deep Patel was very rude when we arrived. He wouldn't honor the military discount we'd been told about over the phone, even though there was military decor in the lobby and room. He also refused to accept my military ID as identification. The non-smoking room smelled of smoke, and after the way we were treated, we seriously considered sleeping in the car.

We were traveling with pets and paid less than $70 for the night, so we weren't expecting much. The room was extremely clean, the bed was comfortable, and the water pressure was excellent. It was quiet, too, and the man who checked us in was professional and kind. We'll definitely stay here again when we're back in the area.
