Quality Inn & Suites Clarksville

We’d stayed here before, but this trip for our daughter’s first college softball game was a disappointment. The pool was unusable on our earlier visit, and now it looks like some kind of science experiment. There were room AC units lying all over the lobby floor, and once we got to the room we understood why. Our window unit banged loudly and sounded like it was about to give out. The bed creaked with every turn, like an old western movie spring bed, and half the TV screen was almost black, as if a big magnet had been placed next to it. The bathroom ceiling looked like it had been patched by a third-rate maintenance person. The people running this place also added an extra room charge and called it standard procedure. My in-laws and I take turns booking rooms on trips and pay for our own rooms when we arrive. We know about incidental deposits, but that wasn’t the charge I mean. There are only three hotels in town for parents whose kids are playing sports, but I’d strongly recommend that those parents stay somewhere else.

A good spot for a short stay. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly. Our first room had a door problem, but they moved us to another one quickly. I didn't try breakfast. I did see someone with a plate, and it looked like the usual American hotel breakfast, which is generally pretty bad.

We were glad to get out of there. Breakfast was meant to start at 6 a.m., but there was no staff in sight, and when I called the hotel I could hear the phone ringing in the back with no answer. At 6:15 I called out to ask if anyone was there. The attendant came stumbling into the lobby half asleep and asked what we wanted. We finished checking out, got our deposit back, and asked about breakfast, but he didn’t respond.

The mattress was pretty comfortable, and I didn’t notice any bugs. The non-smoking room had a smoky smell, though it wasn’t too strong. For the price, it’s decent if you just need somewhere to crash and the other options are booked or too expensive.
