Victorian Loft B & B

Breakfast was the best part of my stay and deserves real appreciation. Ms. Durant was gracious and attentive, and the house was remarkable in both its decor and upkeep. The place is an easy walk from Clearfield’s well-defined downtown. I stopped here on a trip from Fargo, North Dakota, to Groton, Connecticut. I’m originally from Pennsylvania, though from the opposite, more urbanized corner of the Commonwealth, and I’d been curious about Clearfield after driving I-80 many times over the years. My trip was this past August, but I could imagine returning any time of year, especially with how picturesque this part of PA can be in fall and winter.

We spent several times on the balcony that came with our beautiful, comfortable room, enjoying the late summer weather. The Victorian home is decorated with antiques and china, giving travelers an elegant experience. Breakfast was fantastic, with homemade breads, jams, fruit, and more. Our hostess was wonderful, and talking with the other guests over breakfast was a treat. We’ll stay with Peggy next time we’re in Clearfield. Thank you for a lovely visit.

Peggy made us feel very welcome, and her thoughtful touches meant a lot. She left homemade chocolate chip cookies in our room, which had an outside balcony overlooking the river. The room had everything we needed, with the bathroom separate from the bedroom and a privacy curtain in the hallway. After our return to North Carolina, I found myself missing her breakfasts. My diet is somewhat restrictive, but she had options for me without knowing in advance. There was filtered water in the kitchen, which I appreciated because I don’t drink tap water. The scrambled eggs and ham came from a local farmer, and she made fresh fruit salad, fresh-juiced juice, and incredible pumpkin muffins with chocolate chips. It was a dream breakfast. We had to leave before breakfast on departure day, and Peggy kindly packed us lunch for the road. Our stay at the Victorian Loft Bed & Breakfast gave us a quiet, peaceful place while we were in town visiting a family member who’d recently received devastating health news. The beautiful home, inside and out, felt like stepping back in time, with an ornate dark wood staircase, stained glass window, decorative wallpaper, Victorian-era furniture, and family belongings from long ago on display. It really felt like a home away from home. Many thanks for all the special details. We look forward to coming back next time we’re in town.

Peggy made us feel so welcome. She prepared a delicious breakfast each morning, then sat with us and told wonderful stories about the house and her family. I loved staying in this historic Victorian home turned bed and breakfast, and would happily come back. Our balcony had a beautiful view and was so peaceful. The room was cozy, with two roomy beds and decor that suited the age of the property. The bathroom was private, though it wasn't directly connected to the room. A curtain the owners had put up gave that area a bit more privacy. Thanks so much, Peggy!
