Hampton Inn Clearwater Central

The lobby and pool area were nice, but the rooms felt like nobody had invested in them. Ours was dated, with sticky carpet and a tiny bathroom that had no ventilation. Our friends had to move because their toilet leaked, and the replacement room had trash on the table. They also said they killed two cockroaches in the bathroom. Every room has an outside door, and the place almost seemed like a Motel 8 turned into a Hampton. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. Easily the worst Hampton Inn I’ve been to.

Our room was great and the staff were lovely. We were moved to the back on the second floor and “upgraded” to a pool view, but with no elevator in sight, that was a difficult trek. The breakfast was the best we had on the trip, and we could relax and enjoy ourselves. It’s close enough to get to the beach, but not right on it, so traffic wasn’t bad. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub, though they looked clean and well kept.

We spent six nights here in November 2015, and the room was very clean with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was better than we expected, and both the staff and service there were excellent. Beckie at the front desk deserves a mention: I’d booked through a third party that left us short a day, and she helped arrange an extra night. Everything worked out, and we’d happily stay again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the motel has potential. The breakfast had plenty of choices, while the large pool, hot tub, and shallow pool were all nice. The bed was reasonably comfortable, though I’d ask for better pillows. It’s also handy for getting around Clearwater. The rooms need work. Ventilation is poor, there was mold in the picture frames, and the tiny bathroom has no proper vent, so moisture lingers after a shower. You practically have to climb into the tub to open the door. I didn’t see roaches in my room, but my sister-in-law found one in hers. The fire detector had its battery hanging out, so I’m not sure it even worked.
