La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Clearwater South

A quiet room, good customer service, and a pretty decent free breakfast with eggs, sausage, bagels, yogurt, and more. The room was large and very clean, with a reasonably updated bathroom, mini fridge, and microwave. There's also a laundry room.

This happened at 11:30 p.m. We landed at 10:30, and because we were picking up our rental car the next morning, we had to get another Uber to a different hotel. I'd booked about a month ahead through the Wyndham Rewards app, but the front desk told us our reservation had been canceled. He didn't know why, called his manager from about 100' away, then came back still unable to explain it. We could re-book, he said, at roughly 2.5 times our original rate. I've never had this happen before and was extremely upset. I don't know if management does this regularly, but I would NEVER book here again.

For a business trip, I found this La Quinta quiet and comfortable, and as a solo traveler I felt safe and at ease the whole time. The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful, and my room was clean and well maintained, which made being away from home easier. Fresh breakfast was available each morning, with coffee and orange juice too. It was a reliable, pleasant stay, and I'd choose this La Quinta again.

Jeff at the front desk was the bright spot during my three night stay in February 2026. He was friendly, patient when the lobby got busy, easy to approach, helpful throughout, and always greeted us as we came and went. The hotel itself was basic, about what you'd expect from an average 3-Star place. It was generally clean, but dust on top of the picture frames and headboards caught my eye right away. The TV stand, table, and dresser were clean. The bathtub needs work: dirt and rust stains in the grout made it look unclean, so I wore flip-flops to shower. Jeff said the shower knobs should be replaced soon, but a more presentable tub would be appreciated. The towels were rough, though that's a matter of preference, and the TV remote was a little dirty. Cleaning it and putting it in a plastic bag might help. There was a crinkly plastic mattress cover under the fitted sheet, which made the bed harder and less comfortable. I'd also have liked a blanket on the bed. One was in the closet, but there was only a sheet and dust cover on the bed, so we had to get it ourselves to stay warm. If those things don't bother you, I'd recommend booking ahead for the best price.
