The Karol Hotel, St. Petersburg Clearwater, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The room was clean and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. But the shower door didn’t seal, so water flooded the bathroom floor after each use. Before checkout, we ate at Katch. The food was decent, and our server was friendly and attentive. I had avocado toast with potatoes, while my partner ordered the classic breakfast. The avocado portion was surprisingly small. We saw the chef checking on several tables, but ours was passed multiple times without acknowledgment. Breakfast was included in our package, so we charged it to the room. Shortly after leaving, I got a notice that my Amex had been charged for the meal. I called to request a correction and am still waiting to hear that it’s been reversed. We chose Hotel Karol for a short couples trip because it was near where we wanted to be and I have Marriott loyalty status. I booked the Romance Package with champagne, a dessert and chocolate tray, and breakfast for two. Before arrival, I confirmed the package details and asked about a complimentary upgrade as a Gold member. I was told it would be accommodated, but at check-in my status wasn’t acknowledged and the front desk interaction felt transactional. There were champagne glasses at the desk, and the agent offered them only after I looked over. When I mentioned our package’s champagne, the agent seemed unsure and had to double-check that it should be in the room. There was no upgrade, and our room overlooked the parking lot. For a one-night stay, it wasn’t a major issue, but it felt like a miscommunication. The stay wasn’t terrible, yet several service details fell short of what usually sets Marriott properties apart. With those gaps, we likely wouldn’t choose this place again in the area.

From the champagne greeting at the door to the rooftop bar, the bartenders, music, front desk supervisor and staff, everything was wonderful. The food was great too. I love this beautiful hotel, and the service, professionalism, and friendliness were impeccable from the minute we arrived through our last day. I’ll be back. Thanks again for a wonderful visit.

Doing hair and makeup for a wedding here was such a memorable experience. The staff are always helpful and go above and beyond to help with my kit. Their kindness made the whole morning feel relaxed and special, just what every bride deserves. I’m grateful I got to be part of such a lovely day in a stunning space. Definitely one of my favorite venues to work at!

The rooms were clean, and the staff were super nice and accommodating. The pool is amazing, heated, and 7 ft. The elite lounge is cool, with free snacks and refreshments. I left some expensive jewelry there, and they returned it two days later. Highly recommend.
