Holiday Inn Express & Suites Clermont Se West Orlando by IHG

We expected this to be our regular choice for future Disney trips because of the park access, free parking, laundry, and resort amenities. There was even a bottle refill station in the lobby. That excitement didn’t last. At arrival, the desk was unattended for about five minutes until someone at the timeshare counter messaged the front desk worker. Then we were told to get our parking permit at the timeshare desk. We said we had a Disney party to get to and no room in our schedule, but the sales pitch about resort amenities kept going. Our first room was hot and musty because the AC didn’t work. We waited again while the front desk worker finished lunch, then got moved without an apology. The replacement room had faulty wiring, so my phone didn’t charge overnight, a tub that wouldn’t drain, a bathroom door that wouldn’t stay open, and an AC fan that wouldn’t keep running. It also lacked a safe and shower gel or shampoo dispensers. The hotel sold out, so we couldn’t try another room. Breakfast was a mess too. Two buildings share one small breakfast area, there weren’t enough tables, and they wouldn’t open the timeshare conference room. On 12/23 I waited for eggs and found long hairs in them. On other mornings the pancake machine or toasters were broken, food wasn’t replenished, and Fruit Loops were mixed with Apple Jacks. We were told there’d be no housekeeping on 12/24 or 12/25, so we figured we wouldn’t get service the rest of the trip while rooms were being turned over. The other building was under refurbishment, and the painting looked sloppy, with paint on the carpet and missed spots. This place has potential with its location and room sizes, but the room problems, breakfast, and staff falling short of IHG standards spoiled the trip. I’d look elsewhere for an enjoyable stay.

Free parking and a generous breakfast were nice, with omelettes, potatoes, sausage, pancakes, and fresh fruit. The rooms were clean, roomy, and comfortable, and there are plenty of unique amenities through Summer Bay Orlando. It’s six miles from WDW, though traffic lights make the drive about 25-30 minutes. A good option if you’d rather avoid Disney traffic. We really loved our stay.

The repeated push to attend or buy into a timeshare made the stay uncomfortable. Staff kept focusing on sales while the room problems went unresolved. The tub wouldn’t drain and several outlets didn’t work, which are basic maintenance and safety issues. Breakfast was nearly gone, and when I politely asked whether more eggs could be made, the staff member was rude and dismissive. Between the poor upkeep, inadequate breakfast, unprofessional service, and aggressive sales pressure, this fell far below what I expect from a Holiday Inn Express. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it. Management and IHG should review the property’s maintenance and customer service.

Breakfast had very few choices, and when I asked if they could bring out more eggs, the employee answered rudely. Between that service, the maintenance problems, and the constant sales pressure, it was a very disappointing stay and I wouldn’t recommend this location.
