Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cleveland

The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the smell of mold and mildew hit me as soon as I entered the hotel, and my room was worse. By the time I left, my airways felt restricted. For the next three days I felt like I might die, and as of January 3, after this began on December 28, I'm still having trouble breathing. I feel like I might have gotten legionella. The ventilation system needs a full cleaning and disinfection. The water pressure was awful, and rust came out of the shower and tub faucets when I turned them on. It cleared after a few seconds, but still. I've been a diamond elite member for several years, but I'm thinking of changing my loyalty. Too many IHG hotels smell bad, skip daily room service, or leave the trash full, so I can't clean out my rental car before returning it. At most of them the water pressure is poor, even though Holiday Inns advertise shower heads that are supposed to make you feel like you're showering in heaven.

The place itself is nice, but they put Glade plug-ins in the rooms without warning. I paid $157 and ended up in neurological and respiratory hell. It was dark and I couldn't see well enough to drive. I won't return or recommend it, and next time I see a Holiday Inn Express I'll avoid it at all costs.

Breakfast was tasty, with the usual choices and a clean serving area. The room was very spacious and clean, and it looked recently renovated.

For the price, it was fine for one night: the room was quiet, clean enough, and had basic amenities, and breakfast was decent. But the hot tub didn't work, the pool's wheelchair lift seat was broken, and the ice machine was out of order.
