La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Clifton Park/Saratoga Area

The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are super comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the amenities are good. The pool is a nice feature, and the gym doesn't offer many options, but it's better than nothing. Breakfast wasn't great, though the waffle maker is fun. All the pillows had the same firm feel, which was a little disappointing, but the bed made up for it. We've stayed at this hotel twice, once with pets and once without. Calling it pet friendly doesn't quite fit our experience. Within seconds of entering the room, one of our cats crawled into an inaccessible space behind the bathroom sink and was stuck for almost 12 hours before getting out. Then she got into another crawl space under the back of the bed and headboard, where she was trapped for a while before squeezing out a couple of hours later. For the price, I'd give it a solid 9.5/10, taking off half a point for the cats getting into the void.

They put us in room 432, a handicapped room, even though the hotel clearly wasn't full. What if someone who needed that room arrived? That seemed strange. The place is decent for the price, but there wasn't a hair dryer in our room, and when I needed one the front desk wouldn't help. The staff member was surprised it was missing, which I understand, mistakes happen. But I asked if we could borrow one from an empty room and was told no. At 7 a.m. there was no manager on duty and nobody else available. That wasn't OK.

The room design was excellent and the staff were good, but the housekeeping fell short. There was black mold in our shower and a broken towel hook in the bathroom. The bed hadn't been made properly either, and the fitted sheet came partway off while we were sleeping.

Clean, quiet, well located, and the staff were friendly. I've stayed here before and especially liked the pool and hot tub, which were a big reason I chose the place again. I didn't find out until I arrived that both were closed while being redone. Had I known, I would have booked somewhere else. The front desk said they couldn't refund me because I had paid through a third party.
