The man who checked us in was great. We could hear the front doors opening all night and people talking in the parking lot, something I’ve never dealt with at another hotel. The morning staff were really mean and rude about breakfast, which doesn’t start until 7 am. It felt like they didn’t want guests to have food. The bathroom tiles were coming off the walls, and the couch was stained. The worst part, though, was how mean the women working in the morning were.

Things were fine until a maid tried to come into my room at 8 am. She was in the hallway and saw me leave to go downstairs for coffee. When I got back, my wife said the maid had tried to enter just moments after I left. I had nothing in my hands, so there’s no way she could have thought I was checking out. Maybe she was trying to steal something, or maybe she assumed I’d checked out. Either way, I wouldn’t leave valuables in the room.

The best parts were the flavored waffles and the shower's strong water pressure. The eggs tasted watered down, there was no yogurt, and the biscuits and gravy advertised for breakfast never showed up. The beds were brick hard, and the old couch sank so badly you landed on the floor. They also charged $3 a night for the coffee in the room.

We booked this place because of the pool. When we called, a woman said it was open and working, but at check-in we learned it had been out of order for five months. The owner needs to keep that information current.
