A heads-up for light sleepers: freight trains pass through West College Corner, with crossings on Liberty Ave. and Brookville St. within two blocks. We heard a few early and late each day, though they weren’t close or fast enough to shake the windows. The Inn itself was comfortable and private, and Jay & Charlotte Barden were welcoming while giving us space. They were either in a separate wing or nearby, and easy to reach by phone. We were the only guests that weekend. We stayed two nights in mid-January while in town for a U of Miami-Ohio sporting event. Room 4 was on the second floor, facing lightly trafficked US-27, with a queen bed, plenty of floor space, a closet, a large dresser, and a roomy ensuite bathroom with a corner shower. The house and rooms use individual pushbutton codes. We entered through the enclosed, furnished porch on 1st Street at Liberty Ave./US-27, where curbside parking was available. Breakfast both mornings was served buffet-style in the first-floor dining area, with a homemade hot dish, fresh fruit, yogurt, and drinks in the kitchen nearby. The second-floor mini-fridge had complimentary bottled water. We’d book The Doctor's Inn again for its comfort, privacy, hospitality, and convenient access to the Oxford, OH area.

Charlotte and Jay were friendly and accommodating, and the place stayed so quiet you’d hardly know anyone else was there. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. It worked out perfectly for a weekend graduation.

The breakfast was wonderful every morning, and everything was very clean and nicely decorated. The owners are lovely. Staying here feels like visiting a cozy, welcoming family home. I can’t picture choosing anywhere else.

The owners were very nice, and it’s a charming, clean place with nice linens and a very comfortable bed. I’d stay again if I could get the room temperature under control and came ready for those stairs with some Motrin. Our room had an ensuite bathroom, which I recommend. I believe the other bathroom is private too, but you have to go out into the hall to use it. The staircase is very steep. I hadn’t realized the bedrooms were upstairs, and a photo of the stairs on the website would have helped. My bad hip made them tough, and even my twenty-year-old daughter slipped and nearly fell down them. As a nurse, I want people to know that in case the stairs could be an issue. The worst part was how hot the room got. It was cold outside, so the heat was on, but the room was miserable even with the fan on high and only sheets over us. By morning, when the owners were there making breakfast, the heat seemed to have been turned way down and it was noticeably better. We arrived late after checking in, and my manners wouldn’t let me call the elderly couple after midnight about it. They’d called to meet us for check-in, so I assumed they lived elsewhere and couldn’t adjust the heat. I also really missed having a thermostat I could control in the room.

Jay and Charlotte were so sweet, and it was a pleasure chatting with them over breakfast. Charlotte told us about the history of the house and community, so ask her about it if you get a chance. Our room was comfortable and clean, the amenities were what we needed, and both breakfasts were homemade and delicious. We found Doctor’s Inn while looking for a place to stay during a visit with our son in Oxford, OH. Hotel prices nearby were shockingly high, and this cute bed and breakfast was reasonably priced. It turned out to be a quiet weekend, and we were the only guests. We loved our stay and highly recommend it, especially for anyone with students at Miami University in Oxford. It’s about a 10 minute drive and well worth it.
