Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham College Station

At first, things seemed fine: our room was accessible, and the woman who checked us in was nice. But over our 10-day stay, the service and the way we were treated left us feeling extremely disrespected. We both have disabilities. I use a wheelchair, and my friend is blind and has a guide dog. They cleaned our room only twice and rudely avoided our requests for service. My friend even spoke directly with the housekeeping manager, but staff continued to avoid us. We won’t return. Save your money and go elsewhere, especially if you have a disability. They won’t respect you here.

I booked through Expedia for just over $300 for three nights, and the online pre-check-in made arrival smooth. The room was spotless, not a speck of dirt that I could see. I used to clean rooms, so I notice things most people probably miss. Shreya at the front desk was super friendly, with a fun, upbeat manner, while still being perfectly professional. I hope I spelled her name right. 10/10, recommend!

We stayed January 28 thru 30 to visit Texas A&M and had booked two rooms, one for the guys and one for the girls. Traffic made us arrive late, and check-in was already a mess. My daughters were given a key and room number for a room occupied by sleeping men. The young woman at the desk did give them another room, but room 314 had a broken shower and phone. The boys’ room, 119, smelled awful and wasn’t clean. When we returned to the desk, they said the hotel was sold out and those were the only rooms we’d get. Breakfast the next morning wasn’t as advertised. I don’t understand the glowing reviews: the eggs were powdered and tasted wrong, the bacon came in little strips, and the waffle mix was so sour it wasn’t edible. We couldn’t find a manager to answer our concerns or questions, and nobody offered a refund. I booked through Hotels.com and messaged them through the portal, but was told the hotel had a no-refunds policy. Avoid this place at all costs. I don’t know why it has so many good reviews. It was horrible.

Everyone was nice, and the rooms were nice too. But the breakfast buffet counter was too high for me to see over while getting food, since I’m not very tall. The room floor needed sweeping, and there were dust bunnies and debris on the counters. I was there because my father was in the hospital, and I’d told the front desk I didn’t know how long I’d need to stay. They assured me they’d be flexible with the reservation. After he passed away, they gave me an extra hour for checkout and said they’d cancel the rest of my reservation with a full refund, since I needed to go to the town where he lived to make arrangements. The booking was through Hotels.com, and the hotel said a refund shouldn’t be a problem. But I was charged for one night because I left early. It’s not the end of the world, and I’d stay again, though this might not be my first choice.
