Relax Inn

Trying to get a room here was anything but relaxing. In a conversation that lasted about two minutes, the man at the front desk asked me at least six times whether I was alone. After I told him for the sixth time that I was traveling solo, he said he'd call the police if I wasn't. He brought up calling the police a few more times, though I was too irritated and put off to remember the other reasons he gave. I was only trying to get a place to sleep for the night. Then he said they weren't taking cards, cash only, which isn't traceable. Ladies, men, and solo travelers, be careful. This gave me trafficking vibes. I wouldn't recommend it.

I was in town for the Martinsville Speedway races. There were dead bugs all over the room and bugs in the bed, and half the lights didn't work. I'd be better off sleeping outside. Do not recommend.

The room was pretty standard, but clean and smelled great, and the bed was comfy. I got a great night's sleep and was surprised by how much I enjoyed staying here. It was my first paid work trip, to Martinsville, and although my boss told me not to expect much since I'd just started, the front desk staff were kind and knowledgeable. They also suggested fun things to do nearby. Thanks, Relax Inn, for making that first work trip special. Looking forward to coming back for more work stays. Cheers to many more!

I booked and paid $469.35 for a room from November 1 to 4 this year for Martinsville NASCAR weekend. I'm in the US now, but a serious dental problem means I have to fly back to Germany. The races are still more than a month away, and they should have no trouble renting the room to someone else. I've emailed twice to cancel and asked for a refund, but got no answer and apparently no refund. That feels like a scam. If you stay there and get sick, say goodbye to your money. I hope a sinkhole swallows this place and its greedy management one day.
