Super 8 by Wyndham Columbia City

My semi truck got stuck in the snow in the hotel parking lot. In the morning, the manager gave me a bag of salt and explained how to put it around the tires. With some patience, prayer, and salt, I got back on the road. I’m forever grateful, since the manager saved me an expensive tow truck bill.

The rooms are nice and quiet, the price is good, and the location is alright. The office staff are very nice, and the coffee is good. I haven’t tried breakfast yet because I’ve been working too much. Update: last night my wife and I were being intimate when someone suddenly walked into our room, even though the door was shut and locked. The night shift guy had rented out the room we’d paid for. Seriously, while we were in the middle of things? Not cool at all.

The room was pretty good and spacious, and it had a small coffee pot, an ironing board and iron, and a microwave. I thought the price was a little high, but paid it. The location right on US 30 isn’t great in my opinion, though traffic couldn’t be heard from inside. I was near the end of the building by the side door. There was unfinished drywall on the ceiling, and the shower handle looked partly broken and wasn’t easy to turn. I posted a video because my room door didn’t close all the way on its own. I mentioned it to the manager, who said he’d check the hinges. I stayed one night and can’t say for sure whether it closed when I let it swing shut, so check the door if you stay.

Terrible customer service. I’ve never stayed here, but I book Super 8 often when I travel, and I won’t again. They couldn’t fix a simple booking error and took my money. Shame on them. I’ll stay with Holiday Inn in the future.
