We paid $120 a night for three nights, and the room was filthy. Yellow streaks covered the wall behind the bathroom door, like urine had run down it onto the floor. The carpet was full of hair, lint, and dust. There was a strong musty stink, like body odor, dirty socks, and boiled cabbage mixed together. The shower didn't work right, and it was hard to get hot water. Both the shower and sink drains were clogged, so the water barely went down. Nobody came to clean during our stay. At the end of day two, I had to ask the front desk for clean towels. There was also an abandoned car in the lot with two flat tires, stuffed with garbage and trash. I understand Columbia, California may not have other places to stay and that the Columbia Inn has a monopoly, but that's staggering in such a nice little town. It seems like the City Council or Chamber of Commerce would want to do something about the deplorable motel situation. Please disregard the reviews giving this place more than one star.

We were able to reduce our booking from three rooms to two when three family members cancelled, with plenty of notice, and it wasn't a problem. We spoke directly with the owners, who were personable and nice. It's an older building, but our room was clean and smelled fresh. The place was quite nice, close to Columbia State Mining Park and its shops and restaurants. Parking was easy and included. The bedding was clean, the beds comfortable, and after we called a couple of hours ahead, the in-room fridge was plugged in and cold. The AC was on and the room felt comfortable. We'd recommend Columbia Inn Motel and would absolutely stay again.

We called on the day we arrived to ask about rooms and the price. He said they had plenty, no reservation needed, and quoted $69. But when we got there, with no other hotels in town open, he charged us $109. The rooms were disgustingly dirty, with what looked like blood on the bathroom door, as my pictures show. We were grateful to get a few hours of rest before leaving town.

Friends and family had booked nine rooms for our wedding weekend, and I also reserved a two-room suite for my DJ and his mother. On Friday, we found that the reserved rooms had been erased from the books, and manager Dani had to sort it out. Two TVs didn't work that first night. The next morning I came to pay for the suite, only to learn that it, along with several other reservations, had been erased too. The counter guy acted like he didn't understand English, so I asked for Dani. He yelled for her while she was across the way dealing with a service tech and another problem from the night before. Then he yelled at her and physically pushed her, telling her to deal with me. Dani said someone had erased the book, and the counter guy, who I assume is one of the owners, just shrugged it off and offered a rollaway in a basic room. That wasn't acceptable. After an unpleasant conversation, I got two rooms for the price of one, but he also tried to overcharge me by $20. Of the nine rooms, we needed two more as compensation, bringing the total to 11. Five rooms had no television, and two had no heat. Dani did try to manage the chaos. She gave me a handwritten apology and said she was resigning the next day. I hope she did. This place makes our community look bad.

There are poor children living in this motel whose mother is never there. They're getting bitten by fleas and spiders, and there are roaches all over the floors. It's a terrible situation. Someone should call CPS!
