Hotel O Columbia Downtown near I-65

The whole experience was terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. We arrived to find the front desk door locked, with no sign pointing to another entrance. We spent almost an hour trying to reach someone before they finally showed up. The tub trim was cracked, the shower head sprayed like a hose and kept switching on and off, and a large spider came out of the tub jet while I was showering. The curtain wasn’t wide enough, so water got all over the floor. There were cobwebs around the room, including one running from the lamp to the ceiling beside the bed on the right. We booked through an app and paid $107, while the walk-in room price was $105. I was told we had to pay the $107 and nothing could be done. That was wrong!

We booked a year ahead for a festival we planned to attend. The room was fairly clean and had nice laminate flooring, which I prefer to motel carpet. Reviews had warned us there might be problems. We might have stayed, but when we checked the bed, we found bed bugs and left. Thankfully, they refunded us.

It was quiet on a Friday evening, and the location was convenient. The front desk staff were courteous and answered our questions helpfully. The room was spacious, and the air conditioner worked well, but it wasn’t clean. The floor hadn’t been washed, apparently, since my footwear soles needed cleaning afterward. There was a sticky substance with hairs on the bedside table, so I wiped it off with a wet hand towel before putting my things there. The garbage containers in the second-floor stair area were overflowing.

The owner is friendly, and I’d stay there again, but I’d watch the money closely. I stayed with a friend while working at the GM plant for 3 or 4months. By law, he was supposed to pay the taxes and return the money to me at the end of my stay. In my last week, I left two or three days into it and was told I’d get money back for the rest of the week. I was also supposed to get my $50 booking deposit back in case I damaged something. He owed me $180 in taxes, at least $200 for the canceled part of the week, and the $50 deposit, but I received none of it. He said he’d sent the money to my roommate’s card, but my roommate said it never arrived. Even if it had gone there, it shouldn’t have, since my friend wasn’t there for my last 3 weeks and my card was paying. The rest-of-week refund and deposit should not have gone to my friend’s card either. There was also an older man working there who kept harassing me about towels. I did dirty a towel pretty badly one week, and I apologized, but the comments continued, even when I came back for another week 2 months later.
