Moxy Columbia Downtown

After the Alabama football game, I used a free night reward to stay here. The rooms are tiny, but I actually loved that, and the vintage feel made the hotel seem a bit like Manhattan. It’s right across from the capitol and close to some really good downtown restaurants. Valet parking was quick and easy. Great for a solo traveler, at least.

I recently went to the rooftop bar and loved the views, drinks, and staff. Ethan made us a lavender haze and an apple cinnamon smash, and he’s clearly a master mixologist. The rooftop bar is a great space, though we liked the downstairs bar better. Ethan was a great bartender and made wonderful, original drinks. The only downside for us was the noise at night, but that’s to be expected when you’re in the center of town. This older renovated building has plenty of charm, is centrally located, and is within walking distance of lots of great restaurants. Our rooms were smaller, but clean, and the staff was very friendly. We didn’t have any of the valet problems others mentioned. Overall, a great place.

We had an amazing time at the Moxy. It was cold at the rooftop bar, but they had nice blankets, and it was such an inviting spot. Everyone was awesome. We finished the evening at the lobby bar, where Teagan mixed us some amazing cocktails. Marisa also gave us a fabulous breakfast recommendation.
