Quality Inn West Columbia - Cayce

We paid $144 a night, even though I later saw the same room online for $86. They'd described the "suite" as recently updated and the nicest room they had. Once we got back from dinner and started unpacking, we found dirty floors, a moldy smell, awful lighting, and a dead light above the tub. A roach flew out of a towel when I reached for it after showering. The bed had a big lump in the middle and was very uncomfortable, and the blankets were disgusting. There was a huge gap around the bottom and side of the door, so light and noise came through. The curtain kept blowing around whenever the AC ran because it was so close to the unit, leaving us with no privacy. It was so loud that I didn't sleep at all.

We were traveling to Florida and needed somewhere to sleep, although the area already made us uneasy. As soon as we got into the room, there was a rat in the bathroom, and the place was filthy. The woman downstairs was dismissive when we went to report it and ask for a refund, as if this kind of thing happened regularly. I wouldn't stay at a Quality Inn again.

The room was very clean, and the people working there were helpful and welcoming. The accommodations themselves were basic, though, and the lobby could use a proper cleaning and a more professional hotel feel. It also had a strong perfume smell. We'd stay again if we pass through.

The laundry machines were out of order, so after hours on the road we still had to drive to a laundromat. The room was clean and we didn't spot any bugs, which was what mattered to us. The mattress was just okay, and the bathroom could use an update but was usable. We skipped breakfast, so I can't say anything about it.
