Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus at Northlake by IHG

The staff were the best part by far. The customer service was nearly top tier, which is hard to find in 2025, and only one employee seemed out of place. The overnight older woman at the desk, from last night into this morning, was the sole person whose professionalism and service were completely off. The location is quiet, has lots of parking, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, including an IHOP right next door. But the hotel badly needs updates. My room and bathroom were dirty, with grime on the doors and spots on the furniture. The TV didn’t work, and when I told the desk, they gave me a phone number to call. I came to relax, not troubleshoot hotel equipment. The iron barely heated, the microwave took 11 minutes to warm rice, and the floor felt slippery, not clean. The building smelled like old furniture and carpet rather than welcoming. You’re paying for great staff, because the hotel falls short everywhere else.

I was too tired to keep driving, so I stopped for the night and loved the room. The night manager was kind and helpful. I was so sleepy that I couldn’t find the elevator, and she showed me where it was and asked if I needed anything else. I didn’t get her name, but blessings to her.

I usually stay here when I visit Columbus, but this time the room was trashed, with dead bugs everywhere and live bugs on the ceiling falling onto my bed. I drove five hours from out of town and had early engagements the next morning. The front desk and manager weren’t helpful. Maintenance came to inspect, and I asked for a different room. They said the hotel was full, though the front desk had told me they’d provide another room. They didn’t. I left at 10 p.m. and went to another hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Check the ceiling and bed for bugs if you do. The manager didn’t help at all, and I called corporate about it.

The room was huge, the hotel was quiet and clean, and breakfast was great. I’d definitely stay again. I paid less than $80 for the room through a third party.
