Mint House was very clean and laid out well, with an effortless check-in. The two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and nice linens were great, and the beds were very comfortable. But we had a hard time sleeping because the bar/lounge next door was extremely loud until after 2:30 a.m. That wouldn’t be a problem for night owls, but we aren’t, and it made the stay more difficult. Otherwise, Mint House would’ve gotten top marks.

The suite had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, was well arranged, fully furnished, and had all the amenities we wanted. Staff we met were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we were very happy with the stay. It’s close to the commons and Ohio Statehouse, with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Check-in at the entry was a bit cumbersome since you have to use a voice-operated kiosk to get the door access fobs. The one issue was that the hard floors in the suite weren’t clean. We asked for a mop, but there must have been a miscommunication: they mopped the building entrance, and we never got one.

I’d definitely recommend this place to professionals traveling for work. It feels like having your own apartment, with everything supplied, even detergent pods for the dishwasher and washing machine. Getting in was easy, and the customer service was great. The online forms for virtual check-in were a bit cumbersome, and you need to use the codes they send afterward, so it may not suit someone who isn’t comfortable with technology. I didn’t mind that process, though, and think it’s a real improvement over the usual hotel routine.

There’s no one on site to help, and if something goes wrong you’re left calling an 800 number and hoping for the best. I also found out when I arrived that there’s no parking. Before that, after paying for my reservation, I had to use a separate website to upload photos of my ID and myself and pay a separate $200 security fee. That site wouldn’t accept my address, so I couldn’t finish the process and was told I had no reservation, with no refund. It took a lot of back and forth to sort that out. Mint House also has a 7-day cancellation policy.

The first time getting into the building was a little tricky, but one quick phone call fixed it. Once inside, it felt clean and fresh, like a small home away from home. They’d provided everything I needed for a short stay and then some, including a coffee bar and a light local snack. If you’re concerned about parking, there’s an affordable lot less than a block away, basically behind the building, so the lack of onsite parking shouldn’t put you off. It was my first Mint House stay, and I’d happily come back. Highly recommend Mint House Downtown Columbus.
