Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus Airport

For the price, this was clean, comfortable, and a good value hotel. The general manager Aurthur was extremely helpful and explained everything in excellent detail. He even weighed my bag so I could make sure it wasn’t over the limit at the airport. The comfort, cleanliness, and price make it deserving of five stars for value.

The photos are heavily edited. The hotel front doesn’t look like it does online, and the outside is dated, sketchy, and looks abandoned. Inside has a deserted, creepy feel too. It looks cool at first, but then you notice it isn’t being cared for or used to its potential. There’s so much potential here, but it needs a lot of work and effort that nobody seems to be putting in. We stayed in three different rooms. They were dark, dingy, dirty, and each smelled musty in its own way. The fridges didn’t work, half the TVs and lamps didn’t work, and lightbulbs were falling out of some lamps. There was old food and crumbs on chairs and lots of dark hair on the beds. In one room, the TV was smashed, and staff questioned us as if we’d done it. They eventually moved us, but the next room had hair on the beds and no pillows. They gave us pillows without cases and said they were out of pillow cases. The pool is really cool but poorly cared for. The water was freezing and dirty, with a strange smell around it. The owners or management seem to be doing barely the bare minimum. There’s no breakfast, despite what’s advertised, nothing at all, not cereal or even a crumb.

The lobby gave me some hope: it’s a big open space with a pool, trees, fountains, and even a plane on display. But once I got to the room, the stained chair, cheap old pillows, and awful tub and shower made it clear the place has seen better days. The pool was closed, and despite the website advertising free breakfast, the desk confirmed there was none. The exterior looked run down from the start. I only needed a bed for one night and I’m not fussy, but I still wouldn’t spend my money here, even for a cheap stay. I’m surprised Day's Inn has its name on the building.

There was a huge spider in the room, and the bathtub seemed so questionable I kept my slides on. The shower itself worked, and the bed was comfortable, but I cut myself on the box spring’s sharp corner. I also got hit with a hidden $300 deposit. The hallways were dark, dingy, and smelly, the elevator was filthy, and the ice machine was disgusting. The parking lot felt drug infested, and the exterior was in terrible shape. The whole property needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Awful place and service. Close it before someone gets hurt, sick, or robbed.
