InTown Suites Extended Stay Columbus

The staff member who handled my late check-in went above and beyond. I booked online that afternoon, then called around 8 minutes after 8 p.m. because I needed to arrive after 7 on a Saturday. The office manager was about to run her audit, but stopped to make sure my payment went through over the phone and that I could still get in after hours. The call disconnected, and she called me right back. I was able to check in, and that was outstanding customer service. The studios feel more like apartments or condos, and I really like that. Mine was large, modern, cute, and homey, with wood-style plank flooring, a comfortable custom couch, wall hooks by the door, lots of outlets that all worked, good lighting, and a large adjustable TV. The wall charging stations had USB ports, so no box was needed, though there weren’t any USB-C to USB-C ones. The AC and heater worked well, the room smelled good, and the ceilings had no discoloration. The windows open, but my room’s window had no screen. I’d have liked a full-length wall mirror, not just the small bathroom mirror. The room phone didn’t work, and there were no hangers, though I could use the dresser. My room was clean, with no bugs, itchiness, unhealthy moisture, dust, or mold that I noticed. I hang moisture packets from Walmart in hotel or apartment rooms to help keep them healthy, and mine absorbed nothing, which seemed like a good sign. I felt safe. It was mostly quiet, even with heavy foot traffic above me. The hotel is in the upper northern part of Columbus, where crime is a lot lower than in other areas, and there wasn’t loud highway noise in my unit. I’d asked for a top-floor room, but none were available. The property is closed Sundays, with no check-ins that day, and check-in closes after 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Laundry is completely out of service right now. One washer had no out-of-order sign and took my quarters. Instructions are posted for requesting a refund if that happens. There’s a walkable 24/7 laundromat nearby, at least for me, since I like walks and challenging hills. It’s safe and clean, takes cards and cash, sells laundry supplies, has small washers from $3, and dryers from 75 cents to a dollar or more. The pool has been filled in with concrete. There’s a well-stocked, reasonably priced gas station in front of the hotel, on a cul-de-sac. For longer stays, I’d bring a door flap cover for the front door, a frying or boiling pan, cleaning supplies, a broom or small $20 vacuum, extra towels, dish soap, toilet paper, and food and drinks. Walmart delivered flawlessly in my experience. You can put your room number on the order, and they leave it at the door even after hours, when only tenants can get in with a key card. The cell phone service isn’t great. Since children seem to stay here often, a small playground or basketball hoop would be a nice addition. It’s very kid-friendly, otherwise. If my kids were toddlers or babies, I’d consider the room healthy enough for them to live in temporarily while we found permanent housing. Out of my local hotel, extended-stay, Airbnb, PadSplit, and apartment-complex stays over the past ten years, this has been my best experience so far. Great job to the staff member for the excellent care, and to the owners for setting a higher standard at their North Columbus Moon Road location, In Town and Suites extended stay hotel. Five stars from me, especially for the price.
