MainStay Suites Columbus North – Worthington

Most of the staff were friendly, but the woman on the evening front desk was so unpleasant I’d rather have dealt with a wall. You can hear doors banging all night, especially whatever was happening between rooms 203 and 202 the weekend of 7-8 March 2026. The room looked as advertised, but it was filthy and didn’t function as advertised. The utensils, cookware, plates, and glasses were all dirty and smudged. The floors were dusty enough to make my feet filthy in the shower. The bed was fine. This barely meets the standard of somewhere you can sleep without completely regretting it. More than three stars feels like a stretch. Maybe those reviewers haven’t stayed in hotels before. You get very little for the price. Spend a few extra dollars for somewhere cleaner, you’ll be glad you did. Cheap isn’t always worth it.

I picked the hotel because it was near the highway and not too far from family. Check-in was quick and easy, and the beds were fairly comfortable. But the place felt dirty and worn. The hallway reeked of smoke, with several trash bags left outside rooms. Our room didn’t smell and seemed clean, though the floor wasn’t. The kitchen faucet was so loose it was nearly coming off, the bathroom had no toilet paper holder, and the security latch was loose too. Our room wasn’t cleaned after the first night, and I don’t know why. It was our first time in the area, and now we know. I won’t stay at this hotel or in this area again. There’s little nearby beyond a gas station, a Bob Evans, and a few similar hotels.

The shower pressure was weak, and the showerhead was about 8 feet up. Still, this was a good place to stay. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the sheets were some of the best I’ve slept on in a hotel. Don’t let the location put you off.

Staff were friendly, but they won’t clean your room unless you ask. I’m used to extended stays cleaning once a week, but here you have to request it. Bring your own towels, or expect to ask for them and go get them yourself. The location is rough, with run-down businesses and homeless people asking for change. There are people walking up and down the street day and night, and the walls are paper thin, so you hear arguments. Every floor smelled of weed during my stay, despite the no-smoking rule. They have security to enforce no smoking outside, apparently, but not inside. You can’t smoke by the entrance doors, though. If you like good cush, there’s plenty on every floor at night and in the parking lot. I heard two guys complaining that their bookings and prices were shady, and people at work told me the same about this location. It’s great for work because it’s by the interstate. Enjoy, be safe.
