My life partner and I were treated unfairly because we're a gay couple at WoodSpring Suites in Groveport, Ohio. The staff were rude, unprofessional, and dismissive, and the hotel was dirty. A neighbor reported us for no reason while we were just lying down and relaxing, and staff handled it poorly. Things escalated when another guest tried to provoke me and made racist remarks, so I had to call the police. We didn't feel safe or respected. It was an uncomfortable and unacceptable stay.

I had to find a more expensive hotel after driving for hours because they couldn't check me in. The desk clerk said the general manager was supposed to call and warn me, but nobody did. They also couldn't refund me, supposedly because the system was down. I was told it had been down all night, and every night for weeks. A hotel by a highway should be able to check people in at night. This place felt unreliable and unprofessional. Don't book unless you can arrive during the day.

The people I've dealt with here have all been polite, and I feel comfortable around them. I like the location too, with groceries and fast food nearby. Having a stovetop is a real plus, since you're not stuck with microwave meals, though there's a microwave as well. I stayed at this same place for about two months in 2023 and recently came back for one night. I may return for a few months, and would recommend it whether you need a night or a longer stay. It's a comfortable spot. 5/5 in my opinion! 😀

The stay was fine for most of the time, with no real problems, but checkout left me feeling unwelcome. The elevator was out, so I had to carry our things down three flights of stairs. While I was making three or four trips to the car, a housekeeper kept asking if I was done. He'd already seen me carrying everything out, and eventually asked, “Are you finally done yet?” That morning I'd taken my wife and children to work and school, then rushed back to pack before the 11 a.m. checkout. I told a front desk associate, who had been nice and helpful earlier, that this wasn't hospitable. She didn't make eye contact and just said “ok” while folding a sheet and looking at the cameras. I wasn't asking for the employee to be fired or reprimanded, but some coaching about how to treat guests at checkout would help. This turned what might have been a four- or five-star stay into a two-star one for me. I'd said I planned to return the following week, but now I'm unsure. Who wants to stay somewhere they don't feel welcome?
