Hampton Inn Long Island / Commack

We had a smooth two-night stay and would come back. The hotel was clean, the area felt safe, and there were plenty of local restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly, too. They brought extra towels within ten minutes of our call to the front desk.

Housekeeping started knocking at 11 AM, even though checkout is noon, asking when we’d be leaving. It kept happening every 10 to 20 minutes. Asking them to stop didn’t help, since someone else would come and knock again. When I raised it with the desk, the agent basically said we should stay somewhere else if we didn’t like the knocking. This is part of a pattern we’ve run into over several stays. The desk staff have been rude from check-in on, acting like bullies. When we bring up concerns, they go off topic, then get angry and annoyed if we try to bring them back to the issue. It’s overwhelming to list everything, and we’ve reported it to the corporate offices. We stay at Hampton Inn often and expect the desk at a Hilton hotel to be professional, respectful, and knowledgeable. We’ve never encountered staff this rude, nasty, or vindictive at another Hampton Inn.

The hot cocoa station felt festive, and the room was clean. The front desk was very helpful, too. Breakfast let the stay down, though: neither the hot oatmeal warmer nor the “oven” worked. In the walk-in shower, the floor felt a little slippery, but the water was hot and the pressure was excellent.

We were in town for a funeral and arrived after a seven-hour drive, well before check-in. Melissa was incredibly kind and arranged a late checkout to fit the funeral hours. I’d nearly skipped this hotel because of the negative staff reviews, but I’m glad we stayed. Stay here!
