Super 8 Motel - Commerce

The rooms are clean, though the showers could use an update. The women at the front desk are so nice. Ann especially knows my routine, so I don't even need to explain it. She's great at her job, always helpful to me and my family, and never seems to be in a bad mood.

The smell of pot and smoke hit us right away, and the room was filthy. There were bugs and spiders, alive and dead, all over, including bugs crawling in the bed when we turned back the covers. Bodily fluids were on both bedspreads and throughout the room, including the chairs, dresser sides, and walls. The floors and toilets were dirty too. We complained with photos and were moved to the other hotel in the next building. That room was better, but still not good. Nearly $300 for three nights, and we left them the money and got out the next morning. Don't waste yours.

The staff were very nice, the sheets were cotton, the beds comfortable, and it was quiet. The room was clean enough to be disappointing, though. Black hairs were on the bathroom floor and toilet, and it looked like the room hadn't been vacuumed in months. There was a big sticky patch on the table. I thought it might be damaged finish, but it was grease left from the bottom of someone's plate. The microwave was so dirty I couldn't use it, so I ate my dinner cold. The back of the toilet looked like it had paint on it, but one wipe with my washcloth cleaned it white again. Sad for the owners.

There were cigarette butts all over the parking lot, spider webs in the rooms, and a dirty floor. Fruit flies kept landing on my supper, and the room smelled like a wet dog. Housekeeping isn't doing a good job. Breakfast was a cup of coffee and granola bars, which I guess is better than nothing. We're here for work, but if I were traveling with my kids I'd stay across the street. Those places cost a little more and are nicer.
