Baymont by Wyndham Cookeville

The Mexican restaurant downstairs was pretty good, though dinner for three adults and a child came to $93. The room itself was just somewhere to sleep for $63 a night. Cleaning was very poor: there were live and dead stink bugs, a stained, dirty bathroom, and one bed had long black hairs on the pillow. Another pillow had a blood spot, maybe from a popped pimple, and the sheets were stained even though they smelled of bleach. Breakfast wasn't really continental: cold coffee, six oatmeal packets, a waffle iron with no batter or toppings, no bowls or plates, and six tiny cupcakes. The motel is run by an Indian family. I'm not sure I'll come back.

After 13 hours on the road, we checked in at 11 pm with the temperature outside at 18 degrees. The heater in the room didn't work, so we slept in our clothes to stay warm. The next morning, the blow dryer was broken too. The towels, sheets, and shower curtain were all below par, and the place seems to have lost any pride of ownership. It's hard to believe this is part of the Wyndham chain.

It’s definitely affordable, and I’d stay again any day of the week. The hospitality from the staff made the five-star rating feel well deserved.

The view out front is great, and it's close to outdoor recreation. Check-in was easy, the rates are competitive, and both the property and my room were clean. Everything in the room worked and was in good condition. They didn't charge for my service dog, which let me stay longer and get more rest during what's been a very busy year. I'm very happy with the stay and service, as I usually am at Baymont.
