Candlewood Suites Cookeville by IHG

For this price, it's one of the best hotel stays I've had, with great amenities. The staff were all so, so friendly, and the place was clean, safe, and quiet.

The sidewalks were so icy during the snowstorm that getting to the parking lot was incredibly difficult, and they hadn't put down any salt. We also got a waiver saying no food of any kind could be taken to the room, and everything had to be eaten in the dining room or front lobby. Our first room smelled like wet, dirty carpet and cigarettes. After they messed up that room, they offered us a second one, where there were food smears on the chairs, stained bedding, and dirty dishes packed in the cupboards. They even gave us a dirty scrub brush to wash them in the sink. The carpets throughout looked like they hadn't been cleaned. The workers were extremely rude and put no effort into their jobs. The front desk associate with “Fisher” as part of her name was disrespectful and unprofessional. Everything was disgusting. Don't waste your time or money here. These people are scam artists.

I LOVE CANDLEWOOD SUITES! Samuel welcomed us at check-in, and Susan was there to pet my little dog and see us off. They were both cordial, capable, and helpful. The spacious suites allow dogs and have full kitchens, even a dishwasher. There's a pool, gym, guest laundry, and a room with snacks, frozen meals, and free coffee. You write down what you take on a paper checklist with your room number. Who does that?! Down the hall, glass doors open onto things guests can borrow, like board games, popcorn makers, and puzzle books. They've thought of everything to make a work or leisure trip easy. It costs the same or a little less than other places. IT'S THE BEST!

As an IHG member, I got a welcome bag with water and chips when I arrived, a really thoughtful touch. The room had a full kitchen with a stove, fridge, and everything I needed, plus a spacious bathroom. Everything was spotless and the staff were fantastic. I was honestly surprised at how nice the place was. Just an excellent stay, and I'll absolutely stay here again on my next trip to Cookeville.
