Legacy Inn - Cookeville

The location was great, and the room was run down, though not the worst. The service was horrible. While I was showering and my wife was asleep with our baby, the front desk called our room and yelled at her about me being outside by the owner's car. She said I was in the shower, but the worker called her a liar and then mocked her on the phone. It woke our baby and got our day off to a bad start. They called later to tell us we'd left our child's blanket, but by then we just wanted to be out of there. If that's how she treated us, I can't imagine how they've treated other customers.

The prices were so low that I went to the hotel in person to check it out before booking online. The outside looked pretty and well maintained, and the lobby was nice and clean. After they greeted me, I asked about the rates and paid for three nights. The room was clean, and I had the best night's sleep I've ever had. I wanted to take the bed home. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stay there.

The room was small but clean, with a nice refrigerator and microwave. The simple bathroom was easy to access. There's no elevator or luggage cart, parking is tight, and large vehicles won't fit. Wi-Fi didn't work, so I used my phone with cloud search. Amazon Fire TV and similar devices were impossible to use without it. They also didn't warn me about the $40 cash deposit, which felt insulting. It wasn't a friendly place, just adequate for a short stay, but Holiday Inn was full.

It's locally owned, and the room was very clean with a comfortable bed. They do daily housekeeping, even though national chains don't always do that. Good location and service. I'll stay here whenever I'm in town.
