Lake View Motel

We come to Cooperstown every year and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff are really friendly, and the lake view is amazing. We love this place.

We’ve stayed here several times. On this visit, we took the old two-bedroom cottage on the main road. It’s cool and has a lovely lake view, with a swimming spot just across the street. I probably wouldn’t choose it in high season. On an earlier visit, we spent two nights in a deluxe lake-view room up on the hill. That stay went well: the room was clean, in a good spot, and the staff were kind, helpful, and friendly. My wife loved swimming in clean Otsego lake, though the walk down from the hill was a bit of a hike. We were in town for Glimmerglass, which we attend almost every year, and also had time to visit the Fenimore. I prefer staying two nights, though sometimes we don’t stay overnight. We had good weather and appreciated the staff. We’ll return, and I think we’ll try a cottage next time, since they look nice and have plenty of room. We also came back after the baseball crowds had left, hoping for some peace, but one family with lots of kids can spoil that. I understand the baseball hall is nearby. I like it here, but!!!

We tried both a cottage and a regular room, and both were clean and comfortable. I especially liked the flower planters around the property and all the Adirondack chairs and picnic tables set out for enjoying the lake view. The motel is cute and the views are beautiful. The rooms do look dated, though. Swapping the bedspreads for plain white covers could make them feel fresher, even though everything was clean and worked fine.

The staff were funny, friendly, and so helpful, and the location was amazing. We only booked one night and wished we’d stayed longer. Swimming in the lake and watching both sunrise and sunset from the Adirondack chairs was lovely. The rooms are a bit old and dated, but don’t let that put you off. I can’t wait to return.
