Staybridge Suites Memphis East Cordova by IHG

The staff have all been really friendly, and the rooms and hallways inside are clean. My room thermostat doesn’t work, though I haven’t brought it up since I’m out working most of the day. There are liquor bottles and other litter in the bushes outside, which doesn’t make a good impression. I’d stay again if I needed to be in the area, but a few things need attention.

The breakfast was good enough to keep us going until dinner, and I really like having a full-size fridge with dishes and everything. The room is huge and would suit a longer visit. We’ve been here twice, and the staff are friendly and things have been satisfactory. The first time, the TV didn’t work. We didn’t need it, but if we’d stayed longer, I would have asked them to fix it.

My suite felt like home, and it was really comfortable and spotless. The staff were welcoming and professional, and the General Manager provided excellent service. I’d absolutely recommend Staybridge.

The room itself was an unpleasant stay, and the billing mess has been even worse. I paid with points, which the front desk saw at check-in, but the next morning my card was charged for the full stay. Staff couldn’t help until the manager arrived. Ms. Angela Greer saw my confirmation email showing the points payment, yet said “their system” didn’t recognize it as paid. I used Chase Travel at Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott, and Candlewood Suites on this trip, and none of those systems had a problem. I’ve now spent over 5 hours on the phone trying to get this mistake fixed. Management has been no help. We couldn’t get a luggage cart. They said they had one, but it had gone missing, and explained, “well, we’re a new hotel.” That didn’t help us carry all our cross-country luggage by hand, including large dog crates. In the first room there was trash on the floor, and the blinds fell down when we tried to close them. We moved to a second room and found dead bugs in the closet and an empty soap dispenser. The front desk said replacement soap was locked up, but gave us small bars, so that part was okay. We put up with the bugs because we didn’t want to haul all the luggage by hand again. Outside, the property had cigarettes and trash scattered around. The one-night stay itself was full of issues. I asked Ms. Angela Greer whether she would reduce the pet fee given the problems and all the time I’ve spent dealing with the billing error. She said no. When I asked why, she said she couldn’t give a reason. If you value your time, don’t stay here. I wish I’d seen a review like this before choosing it, so I’m sharing what’s still an ongoing experience. If this is how it looks when it’s “new,” I’m worried about what it’ll be like later. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
