Fairfield Inn & Suites Corpus Christi

The staff were amazing, and the area and parking lot both felt safe. It’s a cute Marriott, older but well maintained. The water was extremely hot, and I couldn’t find a comfortable temperature for a shower. The biggest disappointment was that the TVs couldn’t stream Netflix or Prime Video. It’s the only Marriott I’ve stayed at in the past few years with that limitation. Otherwise, it was pretty good.

The front desk clerk was really nice, which was the one good thing. In every room, the red switch on the nightstand has to be on for either the lamp or outlet to work. But switching it on also turns on the bright lights above the bed, which are used instead of a ceiling light. That’s terrible wiring. If you want low lighting or need to charge your phone while you sleep, you can’t do it without turning on those overhead lights.

I don’t leave bad reviews often, but this needs attention. My parents were meant to stay here and expected to arrive at 3am. To keep the reservation from being canceled, my father called to confirm they’d be late. Even so, when they arrived, they found it had been canceled. Then an Indian woman at the hotel was extremely rude to my mother, telling her to shut her mouth because her English wasn’t very good. She treated my mother’s English in a discriminatory way as well as having a nasty attitude. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. This hotel shouldn’t be in business.

There’s a lot to like: clean rooms, high ceilings, and comfortable beds. The outdoor, lobby, and pool areas are set up for guests’ comfort, and the breakfast selection is broad, though it’s not really for me. It’s in a great spot away from the South Side bustle. Great hotel, and I’ll definitely be back.
