American Inn

The young man at the desk was friendly, but I didn’t feel safe here. The room looked rough and dated, and had a musty smell. For $95, I expected more; it felt like a $45-50 room. I wish I’d spent the extra $80 on the Comfort Inn. Lesson learned. Pay more for somewhere cleaner and safer.

My elderly father had to cancel unexpectedly, and he gave notice three days before check-in. The booking site says 24 hours is enough for a cancellation, and I’ve posted a screenshot. From what he told me, it didn’t sound like the policy was honored. Please do the right thing.

Hotels.com found us another nearby hotel at no extra cost after this went wrong. I’d booked Super 8, but when we checked in, the paperwork was for Super 8 and the key card said “American Inn.” I didn’t think much of that at first, so my kids and I went to the room, unloaded the car, and headed out for lunch. Once we got back, the room’s problems were hard to miss: a pushed-in outlet between the beds, a falling curtain, yellow tape holding the TV remote’s batteries, loose floor tiles, a toilet seat coming off, and a toilet handle sticking out. My son and I went to the front desk, and on the way we saw the Super 8 rooms. They were in poor shape too, but much better than the American Inn rooms. There are two separate hotel buildings on the property, and they can be booked separately on Google Maps. I had only booked Super 8. The employee said there were no Super 8 rooms available, so he’d put us in the American Inn without telling us. That should have been explained at check-in. I’ve stayed at other Super 8 locations, but I’d avoid both this one and the American Inn. The room condition and lack of communication were incredibly disappointing.

We spent one night at ammeican inn. The location is just okay, nothing special, and the rooms are a little dated. Still, for the price, it was fine. It was clean and quiet, with a blow dryer, ironing board, and the usual shower supplies. I always check for bed bugs and other bugs, and this place passed.
