Sleeping Ute Mountain Motel

Road conditions forced my partner and me to stop unexpectedly, and I'm glad we gave this motel a try. Check-in was easy, and our larger vehicle fit without a problem. Inside was spotless, including the bathroom, and all the linens were clean. The furniture and decor are dated, but in a charming way. The shower got hot quickly, and in the morning we found good coffee and small snacks in the office that were easy to take along. The hosts are friendly and easy to talk to. Highly recommend, and we'd stay again.

The owners are friendlier than at most places, and I'll stay here again on my way back. The room was very clean, with some of the brightest white sheets and towels I've seen. I slept well with no noise and had a great hot shower in the remodeled bathroom. The rooms are a little old and dated, but that's part of the charm for me, and the cleanliness beats some newer, more expensive places.

Joy has a knack for decorating, and she's giving every room its own character. Our room and sheets were very clean, and we had a pleasant stay.

The room was clean, and the fresh fruit in the office was a nice touch. Still, I suggest seeing this hotel in person before booking. When we arrived, the owner offered us two rooms, which seemed odd. Since I smoke, we chose the one with a bench outside and didn't look at the other room, so who knows if it was nicer. Inside, the room smelled strongly of mildew. The decor was very dated, with old mismatched furniture, wrinkled bedspreads, a crushed lampshade, and carpet that looked like it came from the early '70s. We've stayed in old hotels, so those things didn't bother us much. But when I went out to smoke, I noticed a broken support under the bench. We could've fallen if we'd both sat on it. We dragged over another chair and made it through the night. The area also looked run-down, with a closed hotel across the street, trailer storage beside it, old furniture cluttering the sidewalks, and a picnic area with two weather-beaten tables and an old grill. The hotel had a lot of good reviews, which is why we booked online.
