Sunset Inn

I was outside talking with a man fixing his bike in the parking lot when the front desk worker came over, looked me up and down, and started going off at us. I told him I had two rooms and would gladly take a refund and sleep somewhere else. He replied, “I’d like to see you get a refund.” His name is Robert. I called a number to speak with a manager, and Robert answered, repeatedly saying he couldn’t give me their personal number, even though I hadn’t asked for that. When I went to the front desk to speak to someone, he was there, still very rude and aggressive. I was just having a conversation with the man. When the worker arrived, Robert started saying, “I don’t know you, I don’t know you, why are you walking up on me.”

The room smelled strongly of urine when we arrived today, so we left. The cleaning ladies had just walked out as we were waiting to get in. They offered to send them back to clean, but I asked to switch rooms and was told none were available. We’d booked because the Expedia reviews seemed decent. We went to the OC Hotel instead, and it’s 100% nicer.

When I asked at the front desk about the uncleaned room, JASON only asked whether I needed fresh towels. I said yes, and he told me to bring the dirty ones downstairs myself. That felt very unprofessional and discourteous when I’m paying for proper service. I’d reserved the room for my 75-year-old dad on sep 1 and had kindly requested a ground-floor room for the second night because stairs are difficult for him. The move hadn’t happened by the night of September 2, which I didn’t complain about, but the room also hadn’t been cleaned. Poor coordination, cleanliness, and front desk service.

The room was quiet and comfortable, and the young man working check-in was polite and spoke well. I’d stay again, but only in the remodeled section. I was told I’d booked a remodeled room, though it was clearly dated. That didn’t really bother me, but there wasn’t a trash can and the bed coverlet was stained. I wonder if the room without a can and the stained linens were just a mix-up with all the work going on.
